Specifications of Pan Head Self-Drilling Screws
Pan head self-drilling screws have several unique features that make them ideal for a wide range of applications. Their self-drilling capabilities eliminate the need for pre-drilling, as they have drill-bit points that bite into your substrate.
Self-drilling screws work best when used with the metal . Our standard stocked pan head self-drilling screws have drill points #2 and #3. The higher the number, the thicker the material the drill point can pierce before a pilot hole is required.
A pan head self-drilling screw has a rounded base and a flat head that sits on top of the material it fastens. With its large diameter and high edges, the drive slot is deep, which allows for increased torque while minimizing the risk of damage to the screw. The flat underside also provides greater surface area for a firmer hold.
Pan head self-drilling screws have different types of drive head styles. A Phillips pan head screw is one of the most common types. It is distinguished by the cross cut in the center of the head. Other drive styles for pan head screws include slotted, which features a single slot for use with a flat screwdriver; square, for use with a square-shaped screwdriver; and torx, which is a specialty star-shaped drive that offers increased tightening tension.
